Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Answers that apply across every service we offer, kitchen to commercial.

Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?

Yes. Clear Design & Build is a licensed California general contractor (License #1127694), fully bonded, and carries liability insurance on every project we take on, regardless of size or service type.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. Every project starts with a free, no-obligation consultation and estimate, whether you're planning a single-room remodel, an addition, or a full commercial build-out.

Do I need permits, and will you handle that for me?

Most remodeling, addition, ADU, and commercial projects require city permits. Our in-house team prepares plans, files for permits, and manages inspections directly with your local building department, so you don't have to.

How long does a typical project take?

Timelines vary by scope. A bathroom remodel typically runs 3 to 5 weeks on-site, a kitchen 4 to 6 weeks, and larger projects like additions or ADUs can take several months. We give you a project-specific timeline after the design phase.

Which areas do you serve?

We operate two offices covering Marin County (San Rafael HQ) and Santa Clara County (San Jose HQ), serving cities across the North and South Bay, including Mill Valley, Novato, San Jose, Palo Alto, and everywhere in between.

Do you offer financing options?

We can walk you through financing options during your consultation and help structure a plan that fits your budget and project scope. Reach out to your local office to discuss what's available.

What does the design-build process actually include?

Design, permitting, and construction all happen under one contract with our team. That means one point of contact from your first sketch through final walkthrough, instead of coordinating separate architects, permit expediters, and contractors yourself.
